Best child psychologist in San Diego. Child Psych Testing

What is the earliest age a Psychological Evaluation can be completed?

Research has shown that the earlier we get consistent, targeted services in place to assist a child with additional needs the better their overall prognosis.

We recommend that you speak with your child's Pediatrician as soon as you notice a delay in your child's development (e.g., speech, social skills) or functioning (e.g., eating or sleep concerns, disinterest in others, problems at daycare/school) to discuss potential next steps. Feedback from your child's daycare, preschool, or school is also valuable as these individuals consistently interact with children of a specific age so are knowledgeable about what to expect at a given level of development.

Kealoha Psychology, Inc. can complete Psychological Evaluation as early as 2 years of age, or earlier when more severe delays, challenging behaviors, and/or concerns are present. Contact us for a free phone consultation to see if an evaluation is recommended.

What does a Pediatric Psychological Evaluation typically involve?

A Pediatric Psychological Evaluation at Kealoha Psychology, Inc. typically begins with a caregiver clinical Interview. The purpose of this appointment is to better understand the reasons you are seeking an evaluation of your child and to obtain background information about your child. If an evaluation is recommended following the clinical interview, caregivers are sent questionnaires to complete that will provide us with additional, norm-referenced information about your child.

An assessment of your child is then completed using standardized assessment tools. Once all questionnaire(s) have been received and scored and testing with your child is complete, the results of the evaluation and recommendations are discussed with caregiver(s) during a feedback appointment. A diagnosis may also be given, where applicable, and is discussed during the feedback session, including recommended services and supports.
